About the Aquarius Archery Club
We are a target archery club based in East Finchley in London, UK.
The club is affiliated to the Grand National Archery Society (GNAS) and through them our international body - FITA.
Members shoot mainly recurve bows and longbows - although other traditional bows are also used and some compound bows are shot in the indoor season.
Club members can shoot all year around, Summer and Winter, weather permitting. From Easter until September the club runs beginners' courses for all ages.
We have our own clubhouse, with kitchen facilities, a Bar and a Pool Table and Darts when required. The clubhouse can be hired by members for functions at a reasonable price (non-members may also hire the clubhouse during the indoor season - roughly October to March).
The club runs 4 open events during the year:
- An indoor championship in February
- An Albion on Good Friday
- A Longbow Western Tournament in July
- A Double American tournament in October
Details and entry forms will be available on our Events page nearer the time.
A Short History of the Club by Tony Francis:
There has been a club on the reservoir ground since 1923. It was called "The Aquarius Lawn Tennis and Social Club". Owing to the costly upkeep of the Tennis Courts and the decline in membership during and after the War an additional sport, Archery, was introduced in 1966. The Club was then renamed The Aquarius Lawn Tennis and Archery Club. However, with the continued decline of the Tennis Courts, the Tennis section became defunct. Another change of name followed and we are now called "The Aquarius Archery Club" (AAC). We are one of the biggest Archery clubs in London and the Southern Counties.
